DeskCat - A desktop pet

Hello! This is my first time uploading to itch.io, or uploading a game. (Yay!)

This is DeskCat. A desktop pet that lives... well, on your desktop! I've always liked desktop pets, but never really liked the ones I saw around (and most of them seem beyond sketchy). So I made my own. I thought a cat one would be very cute, along with how mischievous they can be.

Meet your cat: It wanders around, naps (and loves napping atop a window!), plays in its box, and gets into plenty of mischief. Hover over it to pet it, wiggle your mouse to shoo it away, and give it a name. You'll find your cat can do many things as it grows!

It has its own memory: it grows over time as it remembers certain things about you and how you use your computer. It has its own boldness, shyness, clinginess, and mischief. How you interact with your cat shapes how it grows, and how it feels about you!

Getting started: Pick either the .exe setup installer or the portable .zip. When you launch your cat, it'll pop right up! To open the UI, go to your system tray, right-click the app, and select "Open Cat UI!" There you'll find stats about your cat, settings you can toggle on and off, and its memory.

The installer comes with an uninstaller. If you downloaded the portable .zip, just delete the folder.

Good to know:

1. The app has no internet access and does not send what it learns anywhere. Everything stays local on your machine.
2. Made for Windows 11. I'm unsure how well it'll work (if at all) on older versions.
3. This is version 0.1.0. Any future updates will be posted here for manual download. No promises I'll keep updating it, but if you find any bugs, please let me know! :)
